I'm a vegan thinking of making the GOP switch. To me veganism is part of a whole life ethic that I feel is being attacked by the Democratic party. To me the pro-choice plank in the Dem platform is more of a direct threat to the sanctity of life than a general "meat and potatoes" attitude among Republicans. Still haven't made up my mind but this issue is very important to me - and I think that the GOP will probably be easier to change just by showing up and letting them see that vegans are just normal people who share their life values, they just take it one step further.

Too funny, your Aunt Kathy!! I find that I like people who love animals, christian, pro life, pro choice, democrat, libertarian, what ever.
Although I am the "traditional" non republican vegan, (I LOVE Dennis Kucinich), I am NOT really in support of the Dems either at this point. I am not Christian. And in general, I may get along better with midwestern kind of gals more than super uber fake progressive west coasters, maybe......it's the core of a person that counts, and it's hard to tell the "core" from a voting record!! Through dog rescue I have met LOTS of republicans that I do adore......It is also important that we spread compassion through ALL walks of life. Rich, poor, republican, democrat, black, white, asian, etc....So I actually think it's AWESOME that we are hearing from more vegan republicans.

I'm a full throated Conservative Republican, Jewish, and a conscientious Vegan! There are many more of us than you'd think, but we are subjected to a lot of abuse by people who "wouldn't treat a dog like that"....

Oh, we're definitely out there. I have a few conservative bloggers listed on my link list. Over the years, I've met quite a few online and in person. A few switched over after hanging out with me, which I thought was very cool.

I'm a Black, Vegan, and I happen to be Republican too, I still get shocked looks over that. I don't get it, the views I hold are similar to the conservative party, so why wouldn't I support them?

That being said, over the past few years, I've become disappointed with the Republican party. Some of the elected officials have strayed away from the core beliefs of the party. I'm disgusted, it's time to do some cleaning and get rid of the phony's.
